Staycation At Novotel Imagica

The safest way to take a break from your routine life in these crazy Covid-times? A Staycation!! No wonder it is one of the biggest holiday trends currently. With restrictions easing and businesses opening up gradually, we decided to escape the humdrum of our Eat-Work-Sleep-Repeat lives with an overnight stay at Novotel Imagica, Khopoli. While browsing through the resorts to book our stay, we decided on Novotel Imagica as it was the nearest from Mumbai, just a 2 hour ride from the city. Travelling with family after so many months of being locked in did cause some anxiety, so we decided to take baby steps and head out to the nearest one đŸ™‚

Covid Checklist & Measures

First things first, Arogya Setu app was mandatory for every single guest to check in to the Resort. On top of that, all of us had to fill and sign a self-declaration form stating any symptoms or health issues. Sanitizers were placed abundantly and conveniently throughout the property. The hotel staff ensured safety by wearing face shields and gloves throughout. The food was served in disposable paper/foil containers at the restaurant as well as in our rooms. Many of the resort facilities were closed to guests for the time being including the pool, spa and the kids’ recreational center.

Rooms, Food And Facilities

Novotel being a premium Hotel brand never fails to disappoint its guests. The property at Khopoli lives up to is brand name with classy, minimalist rooms equipped with all possible facilities and a great view. I had such a great time lounging in my PJs and doing absolutely nothing in my deluxe room đŸ˜€

Although the property houses three restaurants and one bar, only The Square is functioning currently for dine in services. Having been to The Square before, I was already a fan of their gourmet food menu. For lunch, we decided on their Grilled Fish Meal Tray and Mutton Biriyani along with Buttermilk. For dinner, we decided to go Asian and opted for their Sichuan Prawn Curry and Noodles. All the meals included their complimentary “Dessert Of the Day”. The Mango Mousse and Tiramisu were melt in your mouth good!! As we binged like gluttons through lunch and dinner, I am certain we all gained a few kilos as well. The buffet breakfast was complimentary with the stay and included a lavish spread enough to make you skip lunch for the day.

Although most facilities were closed to ensure safety during Covid, we enjoyed ourselves by playing Pool and Foosball. The kids had fun playing video games at the console.

Tips & Recommendations

  • As I mentioned before, the Arogya Setu app is mandatory on every guest’s smartphone. This is applicable for all resorts currently.
  • If you are planning for this stay to visit Imagica, sorry to disappoint but the amusement park is closed for now. In fact, I could not help letting out a sigh myself staring at the unusually quiet Imagica from a distance.
  • As per state rules, alcohol is not being served currently at the property. Please enquire with the resort staff beforehand if you have drinking plans.
  • The food, although one of the best things about this property, is definitely pricey and can cost you a bomb. A plate of Mutton Biriyani costs INR 1000 đŸ˜€
  • As most of the facilities were closed to guests including the adjacent amusement park, I would recommend this property for an overnight stay at the most. For those who intend to travel with family from Mumbai/Pune, this can be an excellent option for a staycation.
